A Brief History of Jackson Green & Preston, And Why We’re So Good At What We Do

Did you know we recently celebrated our 100-year anniversary?

We’ve been through a lot from when we first started out to where we are today, and have a wealth of knowledge and experience about the industry and the local area as a result of that.

The company was founded by Ransome Coote Green and Sydney Jackson in the 1920s, who obtained Leeds Permanent Building Society Agency and started a stall convincing passing businesspeople to open accounts there.

Several years later, Jackson and Green’s Scunthorpe office opened, before Green and the men’s sons, Ray and Doug, were called up to serve in the war instead.

However, this wouldn’t be the end of Jackson and Green, as years later the company would resume and go on to rent out office space in West St. Mary’s Gate in Grimsby, as well as take on the son of the Chairman of the Co-operative Society, Carroll Preston.

Ray Green, Doug Jackson and Carroll Preston went on to deal with a number of jobs, including involvement in the development of the Riverhead precinct, and eventually sold their Silver Street auction house in order to purchase a new property from which to conduct their business, on New Cartergate. This move birthed the company as it is today, now officially known as Jackson, Green & Preston.

And we have loyally continued serving our community ever since.
