Ideas for new year’s home improvement projects

For many of us, a new year signals a new start and a new burst of motivation to get in some DIY and improve our home lives. 2023 could be the year your house is transformed, but whether you’re planning on taking on a large project or simply redecorating, it’s sure to be a lot of fun.

Larger jobs such as having an extension built or converting your loft into an additional bedroom or office space can add overall value to your home, as well as give you that extra room to enjoy yourself. Even knocking down a dividing wall can help to open up your living space and give the impression of having more room.

An extension is a great project to dig your teeth into, whether that’s expanding your existing house or building an external cabin in the back garden or garage. However, for some, such an undertaking would be far too costly right now.

Worry not though, as you don’t actually need to go big to make a difference.

Even something simple like a new paint colour on the walls, new accessories and soft furnishings, or a new carpet or curtains can completely revamp any room and make it feel like you’ve done a lot. Changing accented blues to reds or greens or any other colour is only as expensive as a tin of paint and a spare Saturday – but we can almost guarantee your room will be left feeling fresher at the end of it.
